Ore to Copper

This classic film tells the story of processing copper at the Robinson Mining District in White Pine County, Nevada. Made as a silent film in 1930's a narration has been added to explain the operation. The ore was mined at the Ruth pits then transported by rail to the mill and smelter operation at McGill. Identities of people are from the memories of co-workers or relatives.

Engine 93 was one of the regular ore engines used until 1950' when stream was replaced by diesel power. It now serves as an operating stream engine at the Nevada Northern Railway Museum in Ely.

Another recommended source of information on this subject is the pictorial history book, "Nevada Northern Railway and the Copper Camps of White Pine County, Nevada".
